Hey Travelers,
Happy Monday! Today I met up with a friend who is an avid
traveler, and we got into talks about her favorite cities around the world. She
noted that her favorites are never defined by the food, the aesthetic beauty,
or the culture, but instead of how at home she feels when she is there.
After our lunch I went home and did some digging into
popular cities around the world, defined by just what she avoids: food, aesthetics,
and culture, as you obviously can’t feel at home within a city you’ve never
visited... so I guess you have to start somewhere.
Check out my list of top cities I’d like to visit and a
little bit about each one. Here’s to hoping I can actually make it to a few of
these in the next few years to find out just how at home I really am in them.
- Ho Chi Mihn City, Vietnam | I’ve been dying to visit Ho Chi Mihn, or as some more local call it, Saigon. I’ve been told this city is full of life, complete with buzzing streets that carry a very traditional aesthetic but have a strong modern touch. A visit here will never leave you short of activities and you can guarantee you’ll be dodging motorbikes to save your life.
- Lisbon, Portugal | Often slated as the most underrated city in all of Europe, Lisbon boasts a killer food scene and absolutely striking architecture. This city is guaranteed to blow your mind if you just stop for a few minutes to explore the small and unique neighborhoods within the larger city.
- Prague, Czech Republic | Less underrated, and arguably one of the most popular cities in Europe is Prague, which is gorgeous any way you look at it. The views that stretch for miles are clear and can lead you to the most incredible adventures if you allow them to do so.
- Cape Town, South Africa | This one is a no-brainer, South Africa is incredible. Cape Town has been deemed one of the most beautiful cities in the world, complete with Cape Winelands and the Cape of Good Hope. The food scene, nightlife, and travel experience have vastly improved over the past few years and I can only imagine they will continue to evolve further.
If anyone has any recommendations on their favorite cities,
feel free to chime in! I’d love to hear more about your favorite places around
the world… as I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list!
Cheers,
Annika
